The First Church Building On The Island Of Malitam
The Island of Malitam where the first church building was built. Seen from afar are Badjao's stilt houses standing on the coast line
This is the first mission house where Ps. Albert and Sis. Ellen were living. It is a wooden building with "nipa" as its roof. The adjacent building was the first school building.
Before The Transformation
Below are some pictures of the island before the transformation. Before their transformation, the Badjaos has no proper waste and garbage disposal, no toilets, human waste scattered all over the island where they were staying.
The island was in total disarray. The environment was so dirty. See the little girl standing close to her stilt house
Men gathering under the stilt house. The ground was covered with mud, human feces and trash
People walking on the mud
The Island After The Transformation
After the Gospel was preached to this island, people's lives were changed. The island also began to transform from its ugly, dirty condition to an environment that is clean and safe to live in. Ps. Albert and Sis. Ellen taught the people how to live in cleanliness by introducing toilets in the island and ways of disposing garbage.
Man walking already on dry, clean ground. A complete change from the earlier pictures!
Huge holes were dug on the ground to bury large boulders and debris.
Ground completely dry and clean free from any human feces scattered earlier on the ground.
